Here's a recipe for Indian Masala Chai:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons loose black tea leaves
- 2-3 green cardamom pods, crushed
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
- 2-3 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2-3 teaspoons sugar (adjust according to taste)
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil.
2. Add crushed cardamom pods, grated ginger, cloves, and cinnamon stick to the boiling water.
3. Reduce the heat to low and let the spices simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse their flavors into the water.
4. Add loose black tea leaves to the saucepan and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
5. Pour in the milk and stir well.
6. Increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
7. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the chai simmer for a few more minutes.
8. Stir in sugar and continue to simmer for another minute or until the sugar is dissolved.
9. Strain the chai through a fine mesh sieve or tea strainer into cups.
10. Serve hot and enjoy the aromatic and flavorful Indian Masala Chai.
Note: You can adjust the amount of spices and sugar according to your taste preferences. Some people also like to add a pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
