Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization

High-performance image stabilization is built right into the lens for sharp, blur-free images with a wide range of subjects. The heavy stabilization lens is driven by a linear motor for fast, precise stabilization. 5-axis image stabilization becomes available when used with α series bodies that feature built-in image stabilization. To provide the greatest possible benefit from the built-in image stabilization system in the widest range of shooting situations, the features switchable MODE 2 stabilization allows image stabilization to be used with panned shots for greater clarity and impact.

Extreme Aspherical (XA) Lens Element

Newly developed XA technology helps insure that your photos will maintain beautiful corner-to-corner resolution regardless of how much you move through the zoom range. It also helps eliminate chromatic aberration so your photos always have the most vibrant colors possible. Another advantage of XA technology is the smooth, soft bokeh is provides. The harsh rings that can appear in out-of-focus light sources are eliminated by the FE 70-200mm, providing you with even more artistic possibilities.

Extra Low Dispersion (ED) Glass Elements

The 4 separate ED glass elements and 2 separate Super ED glass elements that are built into the lens body work in conjunction with the XA lens element to further reduce chromatic aberrations. These elements reduce axial chromatic aberration without reducing resolution so your pictures will have a stunning level of texture and detail without sacrificing vibrant, lifelike colors.

Advanced Nano Anti-Reflective Coating

Sony’s advanced Nano Anti-Reflective coating that reduces the amount of light that’s reflected by the lens and helps reduce lens flare and image ghosting. By reducing the amount of reflected light, this coating improves clarity, contrast, and overall image quality as well.

Fast AF

Two heavy focus groups are rapidly and precisely positioned by separate actuators: a powerful ring SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) actuator for the front group, and a double linear motor actuator for the rear group. Improved positioning precision works with real-time feedback from multiple position sensors to allow the body’s AF system to operate at full capacity.

11-Blade Circular Aperture
